DVDs showing organized street fights are being sold at major music stores in Toronto, and some are distributed by a subsidiary of Universal Music Canada.

The compilations have titles like "Ghetto Fights Presents: Wildest Street Brawls, Vol. 2" and "World's Wildest Street Fights: Ghetto."

Some can be ordered from the HMV store website, where one customer commented about a video: "These truly are real fights that people thought to record. People are being hit or kicked in the face ... You will be truly amazed when watching this."

According to CTV's Chris Eby, many have no ratings or warnings about their content, and some parents are outraged that the DVDs are available for purchase in Canada.

"I think it's garbage and I wouldn't teach my children anything like that," one father told CTV News.

When CTV News set up a monitor near the Rogers Centre to air the violent DVDs, many were shocked by the gruesome material but found it difficult to turn away.

"It's very barbaric," said one man. "It's almost back to the gladiator days."

Another onlooker said: "It's pretty sad. I don't know why humans would beat on each other like that."

In British Columbia, the DVDs have the same rating as pornographic films and can only be purchased in adult video stores.

"Police are warning that these videos may prompt more youth violence, and are urging the corporate distributors to act responsibly," said Eby.

The footage is similar to online videos posted on YouTube.com, that show students fighting outside Orangeville District Secondary School, northwest of Toronto.

CTV News aired a story on the videos two weeks ago. Premier Dalton McGuinty said the organized brawls were part of a "fight-club" phenomenon growing across North America.

"As a parent, I think it is completely reprehensible," he told reporters.

"The only word that comes to mind is it's sick for people to attack each other as some form of entertainment."

However, he said he was not ready to outlaw consensual fights under the Criminal Code.
