Police have identified a 24-year-old man who was found shot to death in a car outside an Etobicoke bar.

Kirk Richards of Mississauga was identified as the victim during a police press conference Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said that police responded to Edgar Avenue, north of Wilson, for a shooting call at about 3:07 a.m. Saturday morning.

When officers arrived they found Richards suffering from a gunshot wound and still seated in the car.

Richards succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe Richards was in the Triple Star Restaurant and Bar at 1906 Wilson Avenue Saturday evening with his girlfriend. At about 3 a.m. the couple walked north along Edgar Avenue to Richards' car.

Investigators allege that as Richards turned his car around to drive south two men approached. One suspect struck up a conversation with Richards while the second allegedly walked up to the car and fired one shot.

Richards was struck by the gunfire. His car rolled forward, striking another vehicle, causing it to move. Richards' car continued to roll a little further, finally coming to rest on the street.

Police are looking for two suspects in the case.

The first suspect, who first approached Richards' car is described as:

  • Being in his early to mid-20s;
  • Black; and
  • Wearing black jeans, a black leather jacket, and a red-and-white baseball cap.

Police said the baseball cap may also have some blue on it.

The second suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, black with braided hair and wearing a black shirt or sweater.
