TORONTO - Pilot projects aimed at making it easier for people who live in apartments to recycle their garbage are now underway in Ontario.

Environment Minister Laurel Broten announced the launch of six test projects Wednesday in Toronto, where 10 buildings have signed on.

The first phase of the pilot involves assessing the content of multi-unit garbage.

During the second phase, experts will try to determine the best way to increase apartment complex recycling.

The government is putting up $305,000 for the project.

The other test sites are in Windsor, Hamilton, Peel Region, London and Quinte.
