Police closed the westbound lanes of a stretch of Queen Elizabeth Way after shots, apparently fired in a police chase, left bullet casings on the road.
Investigators are on the scene, from Winston Churchill Drive to Trafalgar Road, after Peel police were apparently pursuing a SUV from Mississauga to Oakville.
Witnesses said police were chasing the vehicle on Queen Elizabeth Way near the Ford Motor Company plant when shots were apparently fired.
It appears that the SUV evaded authorities by fleeing down the shoulder.
Police are looking for a 2002 burgundy Cadillac Escalade with the Ontario licence plate AKRZ 595. They're warning the public not to approach the vehicle and contact police if they spot it.
The QEW lanes have since been reopened.
