For the second time in less than 24 hours, a Toronto police officer has fired on fleeing suspects.

At around 3 a.m. Monday morning, police stopped a Black BMW X5 SUV on Eglinton Avenue near Jonesville Avenue. Police say the driver aimed the vehicle at an officer, trying to run him down.

A police officer fired one shot and blew out the back window.

The SUV was found near the Eglinton and Victoria Park Avenues area, but police are continuing their search for the suspect.

Officers are looking for 21-year-old Phabien Collel Rhodius in connection with the incident. He is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assault with intent to resist arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police and breach of a court order.

He is described as black, 5-foot-9, 145 pounds, with a short afro, scar over his left eye and the words "FABULOUS" on both forearms.

He may be driving a blue 2007 GMC Yukon with licence plate number BAJY 694.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or online at www.222tips.com.

In another similar incident near Warden and Eglinton Avenues Sunday night around the supper hour, police fired at a vehicle that was under surveillance when its driver rammed a cruiser.

The driver of that vehicle, and two others, have been arrested in connection to this incident.
