A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with a lockdown at a Catholic elementary school in Toronto earlier this week.
The boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested Thursday evening, according to a Toronto Police Service news release.
He is charged with the following:
- Common nuisance
- Threatening death
- Mischief -- Interfere with the Lawful Use of Property.
On Wednesday, several transmissions were made over the radio system, threatening to shoot and kill staff members at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School near Eglinton Avenue and Weston Road.
A full lockdown was put into place at Our Lady of Victory, and at nearby Dennis Avenue Community School.
Members of the Emergency Task Force, along with plainclothes officers and school staff, performed a search of the school and facilities to ensure the school was safe.
The suspect was identified on Thursday by the 12 Division Street Crime Unit and the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
