Human remains found early last month have been identified as a Toronto woman who has been missing since 2003.

Investigators have always believed 33-year-old Frania Cardenas was murdered. She was listed as Toronto's 66th homicide of that year.

In January 2004, police obtained an arrest warrant for her husband, 35-year-old Yangi Wanji. He faces a charge of second-degree murder.

He was believed to have left Canada for Nairobi, Kenya.

The woman was identified through dental and medical records. Police and the coroner's office are still trying to determine a cause of death.

The remains were found November 9 by a hunter in the bush near Doe Lake in Bracebridge. Ontario Provincial Police Muskoka Crime Unit are now helping Toronto police with their investigation.

Cardenas was last seen with Wanji on November 29, 2003 at 5:50 a.m. They were spotted in the area of Evans Avenue and Highway 427 in Etobicoke.
