Galit Solomon, Reporter, CTV News Toronto

Galit Solomon is a Reporter for CTV TORONTO. A member of Toronto's #1 Newscast since November 2004 Solomon has been recognized by the RTDNA for excellence in a feature story and by her community for her commitment to raising awareness for the causes she supports through her reporting and volunteer work.

In April 2010, Solomon's feature story about a Toronto area wife, mother, and aspiring Olympic torch bearer with terminal cancer and iron will and determination to carry the Olympic flame earned CTV Toronto the Radio and Television Digital News Association's (RTDNA's) Central Region Award for "Best Feature Story".

During her time with CTV Toronto, Solomon has been recognized by the York Regional Police with an Award of Excellence for her work on a feature story about marijuana grow operations in Vaughan and Richmond Hill. She is a two time recipient of the gold medal from International Association of Audio Information Services, a non for profit organization that strives to maintain access to information for the visually or hearing impaired.

Solomon's broadcasting career began at a production company in Toronto. Soon she was hired as a reporter for the New VR covering York Region. She has served as guest co-host on Discovery Channel's DAILY PLANET from time to time before finding a permanent home with CTV Toronto's news team.

Committed to her community, Galit supports abuse prevention and education programs in the Greater Toronto Region. She is a committee member of York Region Abuse Program's (YRAP) annual Children's Champion Gala. In January 2010, Galit became an honourary member of the Boost Foundation, and organization dedicated to eliminating abuse and violence in the lives of children, youth, and their families. In 2009, Galit was selected as the recipient of the Boost Foundations "Voice of Courage Award" for her work raising awareness of child abuse prevention and intervention.

Originally from Israel, Solomon's family moved to Canada when she was 12 years old. Solomon is a graduate of York University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Mass Communication. She also studied at the Poynter Institute of Journalism in St. Petersburg, Florida.
