Toronto police are investigating the city's latest homicide after a woman was found dead inside a west-end apartment building on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a distraught man called 911 just before 2 p.m. to attend 545 The West Mall, a 15-storey building near Rathburn Road and Highway 427 in Etobicoke.
The caller said a woman had been murdered and decapitated in one of the penthouse suites, police said.
Officers located the body of a woman who had suffered obvious signs of trauma. Her name and age has not yet been released.
A man was taken into custody at the scene. His age and name has not yet been released.
Homicide investigators have not released the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
Police said there were children living in the apartment but they weren't home at the time of the incident.
The homicide is the city's 12th of the year.
