A 60-year-old woman who was struck by a car while walking across a west-end street has died, marking the city's fourth fatal pedestrian accident in the past five days.

Police said the woman was crossing the intersection at Lakeshore Boulevard West and Long Branch Avenue at about 8 p.m. Wednesday when she was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The victim fell to the ground, striking her head. She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The woman died on Thursday morning, becoming the city's 13th pedestrian killed in a traffic accident on Toronto's streets this year. The victim's name has not been released.

Officers are continuing to investigate, and no charges have been laid.

The fatal pedestrian crash was the second to occur on Wednesday. An 85-year-old man was struck and killed by a school bus while walking across a west-end street.

Police said the elderly man was hit while within a designated crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the small school bus, which didn't have any passengers, was taken to hospital and treated for shock. No charges have been laid.

On Saturday morning, two women in their 20s were struck and killed while jaywalking across an east-end street.
