Workers at two Toronto hotels are staging half-day work stoppages today and Wednesday to protest a lack of progress in contract talks.

About 82 workers at the Holiday Inn Airport East and 58 at the Radisson Suites Airport are taking part in the job action.

The workers have been in a legal strike-lockout position since July 10.

Their union, Unite Here, is pressing for higher wages along with benefit, workload and job security upgrades from the Westmont Hospitality Group.

The union says negotiations on behalf of about 850 workers at the downtown Fairmont Royal York hotel continue moving forward.

The legal strike-lockout deadline for those workers was earlier extended to July 27.
