Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Hosted by Ann Rohmer

Each week your host Ann Rohmer and her guests will answer the important questions affecting your pet and the wildlife that inhabit our city.

We  feature animals from the local Humane Society and Animal Rescue groups that are looking for a new home, and we also open up our phone lines to take your calls and questions for the veterinarian.

Tune in as we take a look at various pet products and issues and we learn a little bit about different wildlife every week.

ORPHAN ALERT! Contact a wildlife rehabilitator for further advice if you find a baby showing any of these signs.

Four Tell-Tale Signs That a Baby Raccoon Needs Help:

• The baby has been seen/heard outside alone for one entire night (sundown to sunrise)

• The baby has been heard crying constantly (for several hours at a time) inside its den (e.g., a chimney, attic)

• The baby appears sick or injured in any way

• It known with certainty that the mother has been killed or trapped and removed (a dead or trapped adult "nearby" is not necessarily the mother)

Five Tell-Tale Signs That a Baby Squirrel Needs Help:

• The baby has been brought home by a cat or dog

• The baby has bugs on its body

• Young babies who are not yet very mobile are falling out of an intact nest (babies not ready to leave a nest will leave if they become hungry enough)

• The baby appears sick or injured in any way

• It known with certainty that the mother has been killed or trapped and removed (a dead or trapped adult "nearby" is not necessarily the mother)

Seven Tell-Tale Signs That a Baby Rabbit Needs Help:

• The baby has been brought home by a cat or dog.

• The baby is found sitting in an exposed area (i.e., not hiding), and does not try to get away when approached

• The baby's ground nest has been completely destroyed

• You have tried the "string test" and the string has not been moved by the mother rabbit overnight.

• You have found a rabbit nest with more than one dead baby inside

• The baby appears sick or injured in any way

• It known with certainty that the mother has been killed (a dead adult "nearby" is not necessarily the mother)
