A body has been pulled from Lake Ontario at the foot of Toronto's Harbourfront, police have confirmed.
The Toronto police marine unit told CTV.ca that a resident of the area noticed something floating in the water and called police at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Sgt. Darrin Little said the coroner is on the way to the scene. He could not confirm the sex or age of the victim.
Little said the location where the body was found is in the same area that police were searching earlier this week for Albert Fulton, a 70-year-old man who went missing on July 17.
Fulton was last seen in the Davenport Road and Bathurst Street area. Police found his car in the Harbourfront neighbourhood with a note inside, but would not say what the letter said.
Fulton's wife held a news conference last week and told reporters her husband was depressed recently but said his disappearance was completely out of character. The couple has been married for nearly 50 years.
The senior was well known in the Wychwood Park neighbourhood he lived in. He was the captain of the community's Neighbourhood Watch program and was the area's historian and archivist.
In early July, police charged the man with ten counts of mischief over $5,000, one count of criminal harassment and one of disguising himself with intent to commit a crime.
Police accused Fulton of targeting vehicles that were not parked according to his standards. Several tire slashings were reported in the area between November 2006 and this summer.
