Authentic Greek music and cuisine will greet the more than 1.4 million visitors expected at this weekend's 15th annual Taste of the Danforth festival.

Though the rainy forecast has some vendors worried, the event is planned to go ahead as scheduled. More than 50 restaurants and bars are taking part and tens of thousands of pounds of meat will be roasting along the street.

The popular Greek band "Zik Zak" will be performing all weekend and a special three-hour concert is planned for Friday night.

Danforth Avenue will be fully closed to traffic between Broadview and Jones Avenues until 1 a.m. on Monday to accommodate the large crowds.

The festival was launched in 1994 with 5,000 participants. Danforth Avenue was shut down for the first time five years later when the event drew 100,000 visitors.
