TORONTO - Toronto police say they have charged more than 500 people under street-racing laws that came into effect nearly a year ago.

The Transportation Ministry says police have laid thousands of charges, with 505 drivers in Toronto having their licences suspended and vehicles impounded.

Bill 203 allows police to seize cars and suspend driver's licences for up to seven days for those involved in stunt driving.

Supt. Earl Witty says he is shocked by the amount of bad driving on the roads, and says some drivers are showing complete disregard for safety.
