Downtown drivers will have to make room for thousands of union and public employees who will be marching in the annual Labour Day Parade Monday.

This year's parade theme, Mobilize to Organize, "promotes the importance of organizing more working people into unions," reads a flyer from the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. from the University Avenue and Queen Street West area. Participants will march along Queen St. to Dufferin St. and then south to enter the Exhibition grounds at the Dufferin Gates.

The parade will close the following roads from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday:

  • University Ave. from Richmond St. West to Dundas St. West.
  • Armoury St. from University Ave. to Chestnut St.
  • Centre Ave. from Armoury St. to Dundas St. West.
  • Queen St. West from Bay St. to Dufferin St.
  • Dufferin St. from Queen St. to the CNE grounds.
