Canada's Walk of Fame added eight more names to its roster during a star-studded ceremony in Toronto Saturday night.

The honourees join 107 other Canadians who have their names etched in the cement of sidewalks throughout the city's entertainment district.

This year's inductees are:

  • singers Bryan Adams and k.d. lang
  • basketball star Steve Nash
  • comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall
  • actors Michael J. Fox and Frances Bay
  • director James Cameron
  • model Daria Werbowy

The induction ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, with figure skating Kurt Browning as host.

"It's incredibly humbling to be mentioned among some of these honourees. It's incredible," Steve Nash, two-time NBA most valuable player, told CTV Toronto. "It makes me almost feel awkward because I admire them so much, but it's definitely a huge moment in my life to be recognized by my country."

To qualify for a star on the Walk of Fame, honourees must have been born, or spent their formative years, in Canada. Their careers must also have spanned at least 10 years.

Bryan Adams has sold over 65 million albums worldwide and is known for hits such as Reckless and Cuts Like a Knife, while k.d. lang is a four-time Grammy Award winner.

Actor Michael J. Fox gained millions of fans as Alex P. Keaton, the conservative teenage son of liberal parents on the television series Family Ties, while Frances Bay has appeared in the film Happy Gilmore and on television in Road to Avonlea.

James Cameron is perhaps best known for directing the blockbuster Titanic movie, while The Kids in the Hall have fans throughout North America thanks to their eponymous hit television show.

Daria Werbowy is one of the most recognizable faces in the modelling world.
