A Toronto police officer accidentally shot himself during a high-risk takedown in the city's east end.
The male officer suffered a non life-threatening injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, Const. Tony Vella told CTV.ca. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The take-down took place in the Sheppard Avenue and Meadowvale Road area on Dean Park Road. It happened on a driveway that goes along the east side of the building connecting Dean Park Road to a condominium parking lot.
Two people were arrested at the scene. No other suspects are outstanding.
Vella released few details about the circumstances of the arrest and what charges were laid against the suspects.
