A 13-year-old autistic boy from Hamilton, Ont., who was the subject of an Amber Alert last week, has been found with his father in British Columbia.

Austin Large and his father, Elias, were found in Prince Rupert, which is on the northwest coast of British Columbia.

"Arrangements are being put in place at this time to have the child returned to Hamilton," Hamilton Police Staff Sgt. Jack Langhorn said.

Police issued an Amber Alert last Monday after Austin did not return as scheduled from a fishing trip to the Lake Nipissing area with his father.

Police became suspicious after they learned the boy and his father did not go on the trip.

They were also concerned because Austin does not often go away with his father, who is estranged from his mother.

Police have detained Elias Large, but there is no word yet whether any charges will be laid.
