A 21-year-old man faces a slew of weapons-related charges after gunshots were fired in the city's Entertaiment District early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Toronto Emergency Task Force surrounded a stretch limo near Richmond and Simcoe Streets after shots were fired outside a nightclub.

Police patrolling the area saw a man fire a round of bullets at the back of a nightclub in a parking lot at around 3:30 a.m. A suspect was then seen entering a white stretch SUV limousine that was parked nearby on Richmond Street.

Authorities stopped the vehicle and held it until the ETF arrived on the scene a short time later.

Seven people were pulled from the car, ordered onto the ground, searched for weapons and then arrested. An officer at the scene told reporters a firearm was located inside the vehicle.

Police examined the scene of the shooting and found bullet holes in two parked vehicles and two different types of shell casings on the ground.

Investigators say they believe the shooting happened after an altercation between two groups of men at Inside nightclub. Nobody was injured in the incident.

A 21-year-old suspect is facing several weapons-related charges. Charges were also laid against the other passengers for violating a court curfew.

The search continues for a second handgun and the group of men the suspects were allegedly fighting with.
