The family of a woman killed in a car crash on Halloween laid their daughter to rest on Wednesday, remembering a woman with a "lovely face" who loved to laugh.

The father, mother and brother of Atena Arabsalmany wept as dozens of mourners greeted the family and offered their sympathies at the Islamic Iranian Centre on Bermondsey Road.

"I think about her face, her lovely face, laughing all the time," Atena's father Mohammed Arabsalmany told CTV Toronto, fighting back tears.

Her younger brother Ali said everyone who knew her has something positive to say.

"Everybody remembers her as a beautiful person," he said. "She wasn't from this world. You can't describe how she was. There's no word invented that can describe her."

Atena and her best friend Nilou Khanverdizaheh were killed Halloween night at around 10:30 p.m. after the Mazda they were in collided with a Jeep Liberty in Richmond Hill. The driver of the Mazda is still in hospital in serious condition.

Seconds after the car was hit, the Mazda burst into flames, trapping the three women inside. The driver of the car, who has not been identified by police, was pulled out by passing motorists and five York Regional police officers.

The other two women died at the scene.

Police are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
