Ontario Provincial Police have laid more than 30 charges in connection with a fatal crash that killed three young men in Muskoka this past summer.

Sixteen people working for Clublink Corporation have been charged for violating the Liquor Licence Act. The company, which also operated as Lake Joseph Club, has also been charged with violating the terms of their liquor licence agreement.

On July 3, Toronto residents Tyler Mulcahy, 20, Cory Mintz, 20, Kourosh Totonchian, 19, and Nastasia Elzinga, 19, enjoyed lunch and a few drinks at the upscale Muskoka golf club bar before heading back on the road.

The three men died when the vehicle they were riding in left the roadway and plunged into the Joseph River. Elzinga survived the crash with minor injuries.

Subsequent tests showed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

An investigation by the OPP and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario led to authorities laying 34 charges, including permitting drunkenness on licensed premises and supplying liquor to an apparently intoxicated person.

If convicted, the corporation could face a $250,000 fine. Individuals could face fines of up to $100,000 and spend up to one year in jail.

The defendants are expected to appear at a Bracebridge courtroom on Jan. 27, 2009.
