Toronto police say a local Mr. Sub restaurant was serving customers a lot more than just cold cuts and cookies.

Authorities laid charges after an undercover officer investigating the Rexdale-area restaurant said he bought marijuana at the restaurant.

The Toronto drug squad began investigating the fast-food joint on Jan. 21. Investigators allege that the owner was openly selling marijuana to customers.

Police say they have seized marijuana, hashish and ecstasy from the premises. The drugs have an estimated street value of $11,500.

A search warrant was also executed at the owner's home. Police allegedly found another stash of drugs worth about $37,000. They also found $75,000 in Canadian currency.

Five people, including the owner of the restaurant, have been arrested and together they face 21 drug-related charges in connection with the investigation.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
