Two buses struck two pedestrians in separate incidents on Thursday morning.

The first incident happened at around 7 a.m. in Vaughan, near Highway 7 and Yonge Street. A transit bus struck a 45-year-old woman as she ran across the parking lot of the Silvercity movie theatre, which also houses a bus terminal.

She was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The second accident happened a short time later in North York, at the corner of Lesmill and Duncan Mill Roads.

A TTC bus struck a pedestrian while making a right turn onto Duncan Mill. Authorities say the front wheel of the bus ran over the young woman's leg as she stepped onto the road. She was rushed to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the bus was also taken to hospital after suffering a medical problem.

The police traffic services department is investigating both incidents.
