TORONTO — Retiring CTV Toronto skywatcher Dave Devall has been deemed as having the "longest career as a weather forecaster" by Guinness World Records.

Devall will receive a certificate announcing the milestone on Friday, when he'll officially retire from his 48-year forecasting career with the station.

On his last day, Devall will also see the east-end street that leads into CTV Toronto's studios temporarily renamed Dave Devall Way.

The Toronto-born Devall graduated from Ryerson University and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he got his first meteorological training.

He worked at CFPL-TV in London, Ont., radio station CFRB in Toronto and CHEX-TV in Peterborough, Ont., before joining CTV Toronto when it was launched in 1961.

Since he announced his retirement in February, celebrities including Chris Bosh and Trish Stratus have dropped by the CTV studios to fill in for Devall.

He's also received video tributes from celebrities including Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa.
