Police say an Innisfil man has the distinction of being the first person suspended under the province's tough new anti-impaired driving law.

South Simcoe police say the man was pulled over yesterday -- the first day the new law was in force -- after failing to stop for a red light.

Police say the 24-year-old blew a warn level in a roadside test for alcohol.

His licence was suspended for three days and his vehicle was impounded.
