One person is under arrest after police found two men in west-end Toronto suffering from stab wounds. One of the victims died in hospital.

Samuel Oliveira Jr., 46, was found stumbling near a streetcar in the Dundas Street West and Brock Avenue area early Tuesday morning.

Paramedics rushed Oliveira to hospital but doctors were unable to save him. He is Toronto's 17th homicide victim of 2009.

A post-mortem exam is to be conducted Wednesday.

Soon after, police were alerted to a second stabbing victim in hospital. The 58-year-old is recovering from non life-threatening injuries.

A 34-year-old man surrendered to police near the Brock and Dundas crime scene early Tuesday,.

Kleiton Luciano Dasilva has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault. He was to make a court appearance on Wednesday, Toronto police said in a news release.
