Police have identified the 61-year-old woman killed in an Oshawa rooming house Tuesday night.

Durham Regional Police discovered the body of Audrey Napper after responding to call at a house on Celina Street at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, police said in a news release.

Police said she was suffering from obvious signs of trauma but did not confirm reports she was stabbed.

Authorities arrested 53-year-old Linda LaFleur at the scene, who was an acquaintance of the victim.

LaFleur has been charged with first-degree murder.

She appeared in court Wednesday and was remanded to the Whitby Mental Health Centre with a return date to court of June 5.

Investigators say police had already responded to a disturbance call at the address involving the two women on April 3.

This is the fourth homicide of the year in Durham Region.
