A woman has died following a stabbing at a Riverdale co-op unit in an incident possibly involving her own brother.

The incident occurred around before noon Wednesday at 55 Munro St., which is near Dundas Street East and the DVP, Const. Tony Vella of the Toronto Police Service told ctvtoronto.ca.

"There's lots of blood in the area," he said.

Paramedics performed CPR on the woman outside her home and rushed her to hospital, but she died at about 12:30 p.m. Vella said she was 27.

The man has also been taken to hospital with what may be self-inflicted knife wounds. His injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening, he said, adding he doesn't

Police have not yet identified either the victim or her suspected attacker. Reports from the scene indicated the two had a brother-sister relationship, but Vella said he doesn't have that information.

He said homicide officers are now on the scene trying to gather information, adding it's too soon for any formal charges to be laid.

Vella couldn't say if police had been called to this address before.

This would be Toronto's 19th homicide of 2009.
