A 32-year-old man will be facing charges in connection with the death of a man who was doused with gasoline and set on fire, police said.

The incident occurred Wednesday night shortly after 7 p.m. An argument reportedly preceded the immolation.

Police were called to 20 Jasper Avenue, which is in the Weston Road and Black Creek Drive area.

Toronto EMS said at the time that the 43-year-old man had suffered burns to 75 per cent of his body and that he had run inside to extinguish the flames using his shower, according to the Toronto Star.

Paramedics transported him to Sunnybrook hospital, where as of Wednesday evening he had been reported in critical but stable condition.

Police did not make it clear in the news release when the victim died.

His name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, they said.

A post-mortem examination is to be held, but a date hasn't been said yet.

Police describe this death as Toronto's 20th homicide of 2009.
