Police in Peel region are trying to piece together the series of events that led to the fatal shooting of two people at a Brampton house party early Saturday morning.

Police were called to a Chinguacousy Road farm house just after 5 a.m., on reports that multiple shots had been fired.

When police arrived, they found two people dead in addition to several others who were injured. The names of the dead have not yet been released.

Peel Police Const. J.P. Valade could not comment Saturday on the gender or age of any of the victims, or exactly how many people were injured.

"A number of people left prior to our arrival, and we're encouraging all of those people to contact the homicide bureau whether they believe they have information or not," Valade told ctvtoronto.ca. "We need to speak to absolutely everyone who was there."

The guests who stayed at the party to talk to police were searched on their way out of the house.

Neighbours told CTV Toronto they had often complained about noise at the house where the shootings took place -- but they never expected to hear gunfire.

"I'm surprised, I don't expect that sort of thing in this neighbourhood," said Delroy Pitterson. "I haven't seen anything like this before and I've been here for a while."

Police spent the day scouring the property and conducting their investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Peel Police at 905-453-2121 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
