A Brampton neighbourhood is reeling from the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was gunned down near an elementary school on Friday night.
Police were called to an area near a catwalk by Earnscliffe Public School, which is near Clark Boulevard and Edenborough Drive.
Officers found Baden Jeffrey Willcocks suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died.
According to what witnesses told CTV Toronto, the victim was shot with his friends at his side, an event that has left them distraught and disturbed.
"They heard him take his last breath," said Lauren Gizzi, choking back tears when talking to CTV Toronto.
Gizzi and several others rushed to the scene after hearing gunfire just before 9 p.m.
She found the victim lying on the ground and she tried to give him CPR.
Trish Zaremba said she saw the suspects run away from the scene.
"The guy was like: 'I got him smack dab in his chest.' Like, he was proud of it and I just couldn't believe it!"
Another resident Yvonne Asensio was looking out her back window when she saw two groups of teens gather right before the shooting.
She heard the shot and saw people running from the scene.
"It's awful, you know," she said. "I just keep seeing the boy struggling to breathe."
Witnesses said Willcocks had spent the day at a friend's house, before he and his friend made their way over to the area near the catwalk.
That's when the victim ended up being shot in what police believe may have been a drug transaction that went wrong.
Police have since arrested two 17-year-olds. They are still looking for two other suspects.
