Peel regional police say they have made an arrest in connection with a double homicide in Brampton that occurred earlier this month.

On June 6, Peel police responded to a report of shots fired at 8678 Chinguacousy Rd.

There's they found Terrence Elliott Hughes, 40, and Garth Nicholas Palmer, 29. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Six other people were struck by gunfire.

Most of them were treated and released from local hospitals.

More than 100 people were at the party.  According to neighbours, the farm residence had hosted its share of noisy parties in the past.

Police said in the shooting's aftermath that they were searching for one suspect.

Peel police said Tuesday they arrested Mustafa Omar, 22, at his home in Toronto and charged him with second-degree murder. He has made a court appearance.

Police say they are still actively investigating the case and would like to speak to witnesses.
