Toronto police have made two arrests in connection with a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of 34-year-old Bishen Golaub this past weekend.

The victim was gunned down outside a Rexdale housing complex shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but succumbed to them en route.

A post-mortem exam hasn't been scheduled yet.

Late Monday morning, Toronto police announced that two Toronto men had been arrested late Sunday and are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Golaub's death.

Christopher Sheriffe, 19 and Awet Asfaha, 24, were expected to appear in court at 10 a.m. on Monday morning.

"I feel sad when a young man gets slain," said Keaton Austin, an area youth minister, on Monday. "I think they should stop the violence."

Toronto saw a number of shootings in the past few days.

At Wedgewood park in the Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, two suspects are alleged to have shot a 22-year-old man point-blank in the chest. The victim's friends took him to hospital.

One suspect is described as brown, mid-20s, 5'8", heavy build, wearing a dark shirt and shorts. He was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is brown, with a lighter complexion than the first suspect, in his mid-20s with a medium build.

Police consider a  ream or light-coloured SUV seen leaving the area to be a vehicle of interest.

On Saturday, an elderly man had been sitting on his front port overlooking Humber Boulevard near Weston Road and Black Creek Drive when a stray bullet struck him in the leg.

Police say the drive-by shooters were aiming at a group of men hanging out nearby.

Fortunately, the man wasn't seriously hurt and is expected to fully recover.
