HAGERSVILLE, Ont. - A 28-year-old father is in custody after barricading himself inside an apartment in Hagersville, Ont., on Monday evening.
Provincial police were called at about 6:30 p.m. to check on the well-being of apartment occupants and discovered that a man was threatening to harm himself and his two-and-a-half year old daughter.
The area was cleared and neighbours evacuated in the community south of Brantford as negotiations began.
But fearing for the child's safety, police forced their way into the apartment just after 2 a.m. and arrested the man.
The girl was not harmed and was placed in the care of her mother.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
