A 57-year-old Toronto man is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed repeatedly during an early morning altercation outside his home.
A suspect is currently in police custody.
Toronto police say they were called to a rooming house on Dundas Street West, near the Junction, at 1:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man lying on the street and bleeding profusely from stab wounds to his neck, face and hands.
A witness to the alleged attack was assisting the man and had placed the 911 call.
The victim was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital with serious injuries but police say his injuries are not life threatening. The man was conscious and had stable vital signs before being transported to hospital.
Police say the man was at home when a female suspect barged into the apartment and accused the victim of owing her money. The suspect allegedly trashed the man's apartment and chased him outside the home.
The suspect and victim are acquaintances, police said.
A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The woman faces eight charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
Authorities are still looking to speak with witnesses. Anyone with information is being asked to call 416-808-1100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
