TORONTO Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Edwin Encarnacion underwent surgery on his left wrist last week while centre-fielder Vernon Wells is expected to have surgery on his left wrist next week.
Both players should be ready ahead of spring training, the team said Tuesday.
Encarnacion had a large bone spur shaved off his hamate bone Friday. He missed about two months last season with a fracture in his left wrist.
The procedure for Wells will repair some cartilage damage.
He suffered through a miserable year at the plate, hitting .260 with 15 homers and 66 RBIs in 158 games.
