A 24-year-old man is dead after being shot in a parking lot in northwest Toronto's northwest.

Kevin Phouthonesy was with his girlfriend sitting in his green SUV parked in front of a townhouse on Sentinel Road, in the Keele Street and Finch Avenue area, when he was shot at about 11:30 p.m.

Police say they are looking for as many as four suspects who were seen fleeing the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics who tried to revive the man using CPR for nearly 20 minutes.

Investigators say they are talking to the man's girlfriend who witnessed the murder. She is reportedly co-operating with police.

Police say Phouthonesy did not live in the townhouse complex. They are looking to collect video from surveillance cameras around the area to see if it captured an image of any of the suspects involved.

They have said that three men were seen leaving the area. They were described as black in skin colour and wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Authorities will be canvassing the area Wednesday to speak with potential witnesses. Anyone with information is being asked to call Toronto police homicide squad at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.

Phouthonesy is the third person in less than a week to be killed by gunfire in Toronto.

He is the city's 47th homicide victim of the year.
