Toronto police say they are closing in on an arrest in the shooting death of 18-year-old Robert Flagiello, who was murdered on Wednesday night.

Late Friday, officers raided an apartment building on Vaughan Road near Oakwood Avenue in the city's west end, not far from where Flageiello was killed in a hail of bullets. The raid was linked to the killing, say police.

During the raid, officers and forensic experts seized computers and other pieces of evidence.

Speaking at the crime scene, homicide Det. Justin Vander Heyden said that those responsible for killing Flagiello will be brought to justice.

"Retain a lawyer, because I believe that it is only a matter of time," Vander Heyden said.

"We're getting a lot of co-operation from the local community and we're pouring over surveillance videos of the area."

Officers say that Flagiello was not the intended target of the shooting and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Police say that the intended victim in the shooting, which occurred next to a barber shop, was not hurt in the incident.

CTV's Jim Junkin reports that officers believe the shooting was the culmination of a feud between two rival street gangs.

An autopsy completed this week has confirmed that Flagiello died from a gunshot wound.

On Saturday, a makeshift shrine had been created at the scene of the teen's death, complete with candles, flowers and a bottle of vodka.
