A man is dead following a home invasion and shooting in west-end Toronto.

Toronto police say they are looking for three suspects after a 28-year-old man was shot several times inside a home in Etobicoke.

Alex Rodney Rundle was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital with no vital signs and was pronounced dead soon after arrival, police told reporters at the scene.  He is Toronto's 52nd homicide victim of 2009.

An autopsy will be performed on Thursday.

Another man, who fled the scene by diving out a window, was also injured during the incident but he was treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries.

"I want to remind people to be very prudent of who you open your doors to," Det. Sgt. Pauline
Gray told a news conference. "Make sure you know who you're letting into your homes. In the evenings, it's always a smart thing to lock your doors and windows."

The home invasion happened on Wincott Drive, at around 7:30 p.m. A neighbour told CTV Toronto he was relaxing at home when a man started banging on his front door, asking him to call 911.

"He was very upset and excited," the neighbour said. "He heard shots fired and he was worried about his buddies. He didn't know what was what because he jumped out the window."

Police swarmed the area until early Wednesday morning with the K-9 unit but no arrests have been made.

Investigators say forensics at the scene prove several guns were fired.

No suspects have been identified.

Police are asking people in the area to call them if they saw a vehicle that appeared to be driving fast, erratically or in an otherwise out-of-the-ordinary way around the time of the incident.

Gray said people often see something but don't realize its importance.
