TORONTO Ontario's Health Ministry showed off some of the ventilators that it has delivered to hospitals across the province on Friday.
The wraps were taken off some of the ventilators that were delivered to Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital.
The province purchased an additional 216 ventilators over the summer for about $7 million as part of its pandemic planning process for the fall flu season.
Ministry of Health spokesman Andrew Morrison said Friday that so far, 68 of those ventilators have been delivered across the province for deployment to hospitals where they are needed.
The rest will be deployed later.
There were already more than 1,800 mechanical ventilators in hospitals around the province.
Currently, 224 Ontario residents are in hospital with H1N1 flu, 85 of them are critically ill patients and 66 are on ventilators.
Ontario has had 82 lab-confirmed deaths from H1N1.
Next week, Ontario will receive 1,858,500 doses of adjuvanted vaccine, he said.
So far, Ontario has received 3,569,000 doses of adjuvanted vaccine and 461,800 doses of unadjuvanted vaccine for a total of 4,030,800 doses.
Ontario has distributed 3,528,500 doses of adjuvanted vaccine and 455,500 doses of unadjuvanted vaccine for a total of 3,984,000 doses to the province's health units.
