An autopsy has found that a woman who was found dead in her Oshawa home Monday was murdered.

Durham Regional Police say Tammy Lewis, 29, was murdered in her home in the Hwy. 401 and Simcoe Street S. area.

Police say someone in the home called 911 on Monday afternoon. When they arrived, they found the victim deceased.

Police say they will not release the cause of her death because the investigation is ongoing.

She is Durham Region's sixth murder victim this year.

A 30-year-old man whom police say was "associated" with the victim had a non-life threatening injury and is recovering in hospital.

Police say they won't release information on suspects at this time because the case is still under active investigation.

They want to speak to anyone who had contact with the victim between Boxing Day on Saturday, and Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Terry Haight at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5247. Anonymous tips can be made to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
