A four-year-old boy and his 15-year-old aunt are safe after going missing overnight, Toronto police said Monday afternoon.
The boy's mother called police early Monday morning after she discovered her son was missing.
She had left Jayden Barrios at home with her teenaged sister Brigitte Barrios on Sunday night. The woman said she last saw the children at her home in the Jane Street and Fince Avenue area at around 10:30 p.m.
They were located at around 10:45 a.m.
Police said they never suspected foul play in the case and were convinced the children were still in the neighbourhood.
Investigators said they will speak to the teen to try and determine why she left her sister's home with the child.
