A 53-year-old woman is dead after a car and an ambulance collided on Highway 6 just north of the community of Dornoch in Chatsworth Township this morning.

Provincial police from the Grey County detachment say the driver of a northbound car lost control and spun into the path of the oncoming ambulance at about 8:30 a.m.

Police say the driver of the ambulance was hurt but those injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

They say the patient on board and the attendant in the rear of the ambulance did not suffer serious injury and were transported to Grey Bruce Health Services-Durham for medical assessment.

But the driver of the car died at the scene and investigators are attempting to confirm her home address and notify family members at this time.

Police say visibility was good but highway conditions were snow packed, centre bare with wet and icy sections at the time of the collision.
