Toronto's latest homicide victim has been identified, nearly a week after a man died under suspicious circumstances on the city's east end.

Police now say that Jin Tao Zhu, 20, died from "blunt force" injury to his body. Five males, including a young offender, have been charged with second-degree murder in the death.

On the morning of Monday, Feb. 15, the victim was found at a home in the Gerrard Street and Greenwood Avenue area.

At the time, police said there were obvious signs of trauma on the man's body, but they did not immediately rule the death a homicide.

However, an autopsy showed that the man had been murdered, police say.

The four adult suspects -- Xiao-Ming Chen, 18; Peng Ren, 18; Zhong-Rong Zheng, 18; Zhao-Hui Chen, 18 -- appeared in court on Friday. The 17-year-old young offender was before a judge a day earlier.

Meanwhile, police are looking for more information about the death, and they say the victim may have been at a bar in the area of Yonge and Bloor Streets on the night of Feb. 14.

Officers are also asking anyone who may have heard a commotion in the Ashbridge's Bay area later that night to call investigators at 416-808-7400.
