CAYUGA, Ont. - Activist Gary McHale has brought criminal allegations against two Ontario Provincial Police officers who he claims obstructed justice.
McHale says a justice of the peace has issued criminal charges against Deputy Commissioner Chris Lewis and Supt. Ron Gentle.
McHale had filed private information against the two officers and presented the evidence Tuesday in relation to an incident three years ago.
He had previously filed a private information against OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino, who faced one count of influencing or attempting to influence municipal officials.
He claimed Fantino influenced elected officials in Caledonia, the site of a long-running aboriginal occupation, but those charges were eventually withdrawn by the Crown.
McHale has been trying to have Fantino charged after the commissioner sent an email in April 2007, allegedly telling the mayor and councillors in Caledonia not to attend McHale's rallies.
Insp. Dave Ross said the OPP was aware of the latest claims through media reports but had not received notification of any process.
McHale led a number of rallies to protest what he called two-tier justice in the policing of the land occupation in the town south of Hamilton.
