The amount of TTC employees on the "sunshine list" – those making more than $100,000 – increased by about a third in 2009 to 724.

Those making six figures include 89 drivers and 14 ticket collectors, the Toronto Star reported.

The previous year there were only 548 TTC employees on the list.

The highest paid driver was Dean Tassis, who made $129,242.05. Ticket collector Yasin Saleemi raked in $114,520.99 in salary and overtime.

There are 4,210 Toronto municipal public servants on the list:

  • City of Toronto - 2,071
  • Toronto Police Service - 1,329
  • Toronto Transit Commission – 724

The city said in a news release Wednesday the increase of 519 on the list over 2008 and represents 4.6 per cent of its workforce.

It blamed the 39-day municipal strike last summer for pushing that number up, saying about 400 employees whose base salaries are less than $100,000, made the list because of strike-related overtime.
