Toronto Police say they have arrested two suspects who may be involved in a number of armed robberies, including one that left two seniors who operated a jewelry store with serious injuries.

Investigators said Friday they arrested a 19-year-old and a 25-year-old male. They are to make an appearance at the Finch Avenue West courthouse later today.

The incident at Abreu Jewellers in which the seniors were badly beaten occurred on Feb. 26. Their son said his parents are recovering from their injuries, but they are still very shaken up.

A police officer suffered an injury during an early Thursday raid at a building on Weston Road.

The officer had his finger severed when it was hit with a sledgehammer as police were trying to go through the door. Const. Tony Vella, a police spokesperson, told ctvtoronto.ca that he didn't have an update yet on the officer's condition.

Raids were also carried out at other locations.

The following individuals face robbery, aggravated assault and forcible-confinement charges:

  • Kemuel Joseph, 25, of Toronto
  • Revnel Nelton Charles, 19, of Toronto

Police are seeking a third individual: Tyson Joseph, 20, on 10 counts of robbery. Investigators believe he may be in St. Lucia.
