MONTREAL - Montreal police say they've made nine arrests in a rash of firebombings largely involving Italian cafes.

One of those arrested is a minor.

Five of the nine are to be arraigned later today at the Montreal courthouse on charges of arson, mischief, armed robbery, conspiracy, and possession of prohibited weapons and incendiary materials.

Police say at least 18 cafes were struck by firebugs in the city's east and north ends between last Sept. 22 and this past Jan. 24.

None of the 18 incidents resulted in heavy damage.

Police say the investigation, dubbed Project Arcane, is continuing.
