Toronto police are asking a male involved in a fatal stabbing on Saturday night to turn himself in.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death on Hilton Avenue, near Bathurst and St. Clair Avenues, around midnight.

Neighbours say the victim was in the neighbourhood where at least one Grade 8 graduation party was taking place.

An altercation took place near that home, but police say the incident was not connected to the party.

Police are looking for a male, around 18 years old and 5'10.

Homicide detective Mary Vruna suggests the suspect retain a lawyer and surrender himself to 13 Division headquarters on Eglinton Avenue.

"I am asking further witnesses to come forward who have left the scene prior to police arrival – who may have been frightened off because of the incident," she said.

"I am requesting parents who know their children were in this neighbourhood…to bring their children forward so we can speak to them to assist us in identifying this individual quickly…

"I feel confident that he will be apprehended. It would be nice if he was apprehended today."
